This past Chol HaMoed Pesach, we took the kids to the “Kosher Circus”. Basically, it’s the famous Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus with all male performers (although I suspect that one of the poodles might have been female
) The circus kicked off with the one and only Uncle Moishe. I guess good ol’ Uncle Moishe can now say that he played “the Garden”. Due to the distance from the stage and the poor lighting, these pictures aren’t the greatest.

The circus itself was pretty good. I have to hand it to Ringling Brothers, they really went out of their way to accomodate the Jewish crowd. The vendors were selling Kosher L’Pesach Marshmellows, this guy was calling out in a spanish accent “Ko-Sher Marsh-a-Mellows, Ko-Sher Marsh-a-Mellows”
The famous clown “Bello” took his trademark funky, stand on end hairstyle

and created payos to come out and sing with The Yeshiva Boys Choir in the after show. Toward the end of the show, he threw out some yiddish and asked that crowd if the circus was mamesh geshmak? OK, it was a little bit of overkill when the African-American ringmaster was throwing “Mazel Tov” into the middle of his song. But all in all it was a great show and the kids, especially the little ones really enjoyed.
These acrobatic brothers were very good

and Bello joined another acrobat on dueling sway poles.

And the famous “Cucumber Guy” of Oorah fame danced the horah with Bello.

Leaving the circus, we spotted this penant vendor with a creative sales approach.

I must say that spending a day at the circus can be quite exhausting (especially fighting the NYC traffic). But, I had enough koach to take my son and his two friends to the Yankee game that evening where Andy Petite was to start his first game after returning to the Yankees.

It was absolutely freeeeeeeeeezing and the Yanks lost (that has become a bit of a habit for them this year).
Anyway, it was a fun time for the boys and it was good to see Petite in action.

Boy, did i sleep well that night!!

The Kosher Circus looks great! I would love to be able to take my girls to something like that!
Next Pesach, you, the hubby and the girsl should come to NY. We’ll take u all to the circus, Kosher Marsh-a-Mellos on us.
